front sway bar
so i just got my xj a few weeks ago and its got what looks like a 3 in lift and a home made front coil spacer and it still has the stock sway bar end links on it and i have no flex what so ever and i was thinking about just removing my front sway bar and i wanted to see if anyone has done that and how much body roll did they have

There are cheap kits you can buy to extend the sway bar. Id recommended a quick disconnect version so that you can disconnect them on the trail giving you killer articulation.

I removed both my front and rear sway bar with my 4" lift even though everyone says its so dangerous without em. I haven't had a problem yet, its drives great. You do feel it roll more around turns but nothing serious, you get use to it. I've hit 80 without it but that's obviously going straight. Flexes a whole hell of a lot better too

AAAUUIIUUGGGGHHHHH......!!! This is that "both side of the argument" I was talking about! I can't stand it! It's so dangerous. And it's not "oh I don't notice not having the links when I go around a corner"
Normal driving ISNT the issue! It's EMERGENCY maneuvers. The rare, kid just ran into the street, moment. And your jeep is gonna roll so hard you won't be able to compensate for excessive body roll and oversteer and you will crash!
I ended up 1/2 way into the other lane with a bus coming at me... If my sway bar was disco or non existent. I would have killed me and my passenger, at least. And he was a 15yo kid.. I will never drive the pavement without front away bars.

Driving without front anti-sway bar in these is like driving with the brakes only working on one wheel. I don't care how good of a driver you are - and neither is the kid you're going to kill because you couldn't stop/swerve safely. A life is worth more than a $100 part, don't you think? Drop brackets or extended links I think should be even cheaper for you folks down in the US.

I got my XJ with a 3.5 lift and stock swaybar links so I know what you're feeling! I started with a set of Pro Comp extended sway bar links and that made the ride a good bit smoother. It did not improve flex or off-road traction much though, so after a bit I decided to put a pair of disconnects on there. I think I got the extended fixed links for less than 50 bucks on ebay and then when I found the disconnects on ebay (slightly used) for about 60 I just did the upgrade. Either way, you can get a much smoother ride and not worry about flipping it should a deer jump in front of you (or something worse)!
Also, the poly bushing kits for the swaybar itself are way cheap. I did one of those while I had it apart for like 15 bucks I think, and made it a lot quieter and smoother flexing. Just a "while yer in there" kinda thing!
(I've already cannibalized the old extended links for parts or I'd offer to send em to you.)

I know I'm going to get people going against me for this... but here goes..
I run neither at 4.5" of lift, and 31" tires. I have a disco on my front, but I never bother to hook it up unless it's an extended drive. Yes it bounces more; but the only time I really notice it is around corners. I have had to make emergency maneuvers, and I have been fine. It's all about the over correction. I wouldn't necessarily recommend running no sway bars, but I'm just saying I have had no problems personally. Oh, by the way it is my DD, getting around 40-45 miles put on it every day.
Let the criticisms begin...
