front sway bar

All it takes is one Emerency Manauver and you'll really wish you had the sawy bar connected.
Keep in mind that anyone that tells you that's it's safe to remove the front sway bar isn't going to step up and pay your bills if the worst happens.
Removing/disconnecting safety equipment isn't something any semi-intelligent person would ever advocate or suggest.

I have never had a sway bar on my XJ.
The front wasnt hooked up when I bought it, and the rear was already gone.
So I just pulled it off.
I guess I cant say what it was like with one, although I've driven XJs with them.
But my daily driver has never had one. And I have never had any issues.

I run no sway bars either. Bit i dont go 80 on the highway i aint stupid.
I feel some body roll at 40+. But it aint as bad as i thought it would be. If i was hugher than 3 in i would prolly haves sways. I like the way my jeeps rolls as it sits.
Every jeep and set up is dofferent but if run no sways you gotta drive it that way you cant get reckless.

The front spring rate makes a big difference too, I had some pretty stiff springs on my last XJ and it wasnt nearly as bad without the front sway as my TJ was. Still, a front swaybar is a must, and once again, it's because of the one time you have to make an emergency maneuver. The higher the lift and the softer the springs, the more body roll you are going to have making it very difficult to stay on the road when the worst happens.

I removed both my front and rear sway bar with my 4" lift even though everyone says its so dangerous without em. I haven't had a problem yet, its drives great. You do feel it roll more around turns but nothing serious, you get use to it. I've hit 80 without it but that's obviously going straight. Flexes a whole hell of a lot better too
I know I'm going to get people going against me for this... but here goes..
I run neither at 4.5" of lift, and 31" tires. I have a disco on my front, but I never bother to hook it up unless it's an extended drive. Yes it bounces more; but the only time I really notice it is around corners. I have had to make emergency maneuvers, and I have been fine. It's all about the over correction. I wouldn't necessarily recommend running no sway bars, but I'm just saying I have had no problems personally. Oh, by the way it is my DD, getting around 40-45 miles put on it every day.
Let the criticisms begin...

Which is why I stated directly in my post that I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but it is what I'm doing and I was giving my personal experience. I understand the risks I pose by not running a sway bar, and everyone else can see the risks as well. Like Gee said, I don't run them and I have no issues. It will be entirely based on driving habits as well.
like all has been said before, there is a saftey side and a personal preference side. personally i'm driving on a 4.5'' lift with 33s and no sway bars. i don't have any problems and i still drive it pretty hard and still do 80-85 down the highway. it was my dd that way. as long as you know the limits you won't have any problems. i've got a friend same set up as mine but on 32s and he will drift and cut donuts on dry pavement and hasn't rolled it yet, but yes it does lean a lot.

Just curious. Wouldn't that be concidered a piece of OEM safety equipment? If so would it or would it not pass a safety inspection for the states that require a safety inspection. I do know that you are not suppose to remove safety equipment. Let me know if I am wrong, Because I personally would like to know.

Mo is a inspection state and since I am a licensed inspector, it would fail inspection if the vehicle was equipped with sway bars and does not have any at the time of inspection.

I'd be willing to bet, and there has been much debate about the specific point before, that if you were to crash and it was discovered that you were not running with all of your OEM suspension and/or steering components that there could be some serious liability on your end. Something to consider I think..
I would never recommend driving on the highway without it. I did a corner at about 35 discod, and decided to drift it. The corner was gravel. But my roommate behind me said that she could not believe just how far over my jeep was leaning and that was only a 35 miles an hour. It felt incredibly stable inside the vehicle. I don't think that the body roll translates very well inside the cab and you actually have a serious loss of perspective on what the actual pitch of the vehicle is..
