Looks like J3242912, but of course they're "Discontinued":

It seems to me that if you disabled a single injector the engine would skip, not die. Try moving the injector to another spot and see if the problem follows. Sounds more like a wiring issue.

Thanks Dave51! I haven’t been able to duplicate the problem with the injector since. I picked my xj up for 500.00 and it had been sitting awhile so I’m sure it’s needs some more run time to work out the bugs.

191,000 miles passed Ca smog and I have not found any rust which is pretty surprising. I keep looking and thinking there must be rust somewhere, but nothing!

Dave51, I had been looking for months for a project xj and so many were in pretty bad condition. I started to look at tow yard lien sales and non-profit donation vehicles for sale and found this one at a non profit. It’s a solid xj that nobody was interested in. My offer was accepted and I scooped it up fast.

You may have bumped the CPS plug when wiggling an injector, especially if the injector was toward the rear.

Hop on over to www.cruiser54.com and complete tips 1,3,4, and 5 right away.

I was the first to Guinnypig" the 746's on a tip from Programbo. They are golden for 87-90 Renix. 703's will work but those are better for post 90 HO Jeeps which use a slightly higher flow rate. For Renix the puter will trim ether by adjusting the injector pulse width, but cold running on puter default settings the 703's will be a little rich for Renix.
