Fuel injector port damaged?
so while I was in the process of replacing my engine I took the manifold off to get it de-carbonized and sand blasted so I could put a nice, new, clean, and painted manifold on my new engine. During the painting process I found this.....
How screwed am i? It looks a bit like the oring would be big enough to still make a seal but I don't know. I had been smelling gas while driving but it was only when the ac was on (not heat though) and the vacuum line on the fuel regulator was all worn out so I thought it was that.

Right nasty looking damage. Don't know if I'd take a chance with it or not. Lot of work reinstalling it to find out it's not going to seal. I'm definitely not fond of fuel leaks. Can't be that much for a used manifold to replace that one.

I was worried you'd say that. I just spent $100 getting this one sand blasted since I hadn't noticed that.... Unlucky

It isn't that I don't appreciate your optimism but eh... Did you look at the first picture? Lol
So you don't think that little ***** would cause the seal to leak? Is it because the actual sealing point is on the sides or the corner where the ***** doesn't get to or what?
thanks

Never messed with those O-rings before but have with o-rings on many other types of applications before. Damaged seats had always been a concern. But if you guys feel he should give it a go I'll cede to y'alls experience.

That chip is on the bottom surface. The o-ring seals against the larger dia tube. That chip will have no adverse effects

Ditto on it being a non-issue, as the o-ring presses on the sides of the hole and the injector tip extends below that. Looks like it has carbon in the chip, so I'd guess it came from the factory that way. Beside a minor leak on the intake side will be a vacuum leak and not fuel spraying out.
