Do I have to replace the whole freaking line from rail to filter just to replace that rubber part?
Do not try to separate that rubber from the SS. Plan on getting the disconnects apart, it’s not bad with the tool.

On the bottom connection from rubber to plastic to metal, where is the disconnect in that photo and what tool is used?

Already got both the plastic and metal tools at Northern Tool today. Will start with the plastic ones and see if those work. If not, will move up to metal.

On my 99:

The fuel disconnect (engine end) is at the fuel rail.

Tank end is a plastic clip type (no tool required) right at the tank.

Already replaced the rubber line at the tank to the filter. Already replaced filter and the rubber line from filter to metal fuel line that runs under the floor pan and into the engine compartment.

Not back at the tank here, I am asking about the end of the rubber 90 where it connects to the metal fuel line in the engine compartment. The lower end of the 90 degree rubber line inside the engine compartment. The opposite end of the rubber line from the fuel rail. This connection under the intake manifold:

Rubber to plastic to metal fuel line connection in engine compartment.

Someone up the thread said if you disconnect the plastic it will ruin the fuel line.

Does the rubber just slip fit over that with no clamp? I see no clamping anything there. Also, with that ridge in the plastic I don't see how a tool is getting past that and under the rubber either.

Pictures above are what is not very visible of the rubber line in this picture.

I know it might not be exact, but this front supply line from Morris 4X4 (and illustrations from others) shows just the metal line, no plastic or rubber at the engine end.
https://www.morris4x4center.com/omix...-17732-30.html

The rubber line appears to be discontinued part number 52850360

I will look at mine this morning and comment. Why are you trying to separate the ss and rubber/flexible lines? If you’re looking to pull the intake just pop the disconnect apart at the rail.

The rubber/SS lines are pressed fit. To get them apart you destroy the line(s).

You will have to replace the line the rubber sections are made onto it. I replaced mine last Summer when I cut into it while doing some cutting on the front end. I'll see if I can find the place I got it from

OK, that clears things up.

The idea here on my end is almost all the rubber tubing and whatnot I have on this thing is factory, and every time I tinker with a different area I come across it rotting pretty bad. So, the stuff I can reach I plan on replacing as quickly as possible. This is the last piece of rubber in the fuel supply line that is original. The metal line under the vehicle looks OK from casual glance, but the vapor line and the brake line are pretty crusty. Might be able to pull all three out of another Jeep and take them in for new ones to be made pretty reasonable near me.

New plan for me is pull one from a junk yard, take it to Royal Brass & Hose and see if they can make a flex line that will work with the stock setup.

Otherwise, will try to have a new metal line made with flaring for 800-080(?) at the engine end and a flexible braided stainless/PTFE (or whatever the inner flexible inner liner is called) hose with 800-080 fittings at both ends.

You could go this route here, I was going to but I like to keep things factory unless I'm stranded.

This is the one my 2000 needed Manufacturer's Part Number: 52100349AB

Since yours is a 1996 don't know if it uses the same part number.

That Summit line is significantly different than for 1996. My part number for the hose appears to be 52850360 and is discontinued. My worst case is a fancier version of your first link.

That looks sort of close, but the filter end is different. 52102012 seems close.
