Well, looks like I won't be using these parts for the fact that the plugs don't match up to an airtek set up. This new Bosch set up doesn't have wires going to the float either.
And nobody in town has a complete system besides the airtex. Napa guy tried to get me to purchase a airtex pump to replace the current one. Idiot. So when I can, gonna get to the jy and get an OEM one and replace with parts I already ordered. Fun fun. Glad this ain't my dd
Spectra Premium is a Canadian company. They are offering lifetime warranty on their fuel pumps( I know). Haven't found out where the pumps are built yet.

Should be a 2 wire setup for the pump itself. Pumps can be generally generic with a connector kit added. Usually include spade connectors to fit your application. Float wire does not come from pump. I tried to find a pic of airtex setup but they don't show wire setup at the top of assembly. I think thats what your talking about the top connection, right ? Take a pic, probably just a simple fix of just putting some spade or ring connectors on.
I don't know if its true or not but rockauto's listing of an airtex pump now states it is a bosch pump inside, same with carter ?
Red from pump goes to connector. Black from pump goes to ground screw on the head. Blue from float goes to connector. Then there's a black wire from connector to the head. Kinda ridiculous if you ask me.
No way the wires that cam with the new parts are gonna work.
The pic of the new pump in bag does not appear to have the rubber spacers mine had. My pump came with spacers to fit my housing. Guess bosch is cutting corners these days too. Does that bosch pump have 2 threaded studs for the wires ? That new wiring is for a different application for sure, pretty generic kit these days..
Parts sites list '86 thru '93 as the same pump. That '92 might work for ya. Although might be hard finding an original come to think of it.
Didn't realize that kind of corrosion existed on the pump. I bought my Jeep 11/86. I'll post a picture of my original Bosch pump when it goes. Should be interesting.
Oswalla, it does have the spacers. I didn't take a good pic of the whole package. No it does not have the threaded studs either. Has a plug on each end. Looks like I will be throwing the old unit back in the tank for now. Going to the lake with family for the weekend.
Yeah Greg, it does look rough, but the external wiring looks new. Kinda had me confused. There was quite a bit of junk on the strainer sock deal, so I may end up dropping the tank and cleaning it real good anyway.
So an '86-93 are the same pump? Weird. Oh well. If someone else has any info or input or ideas, I'm all ears. But for now, this bad boy is on hold. I appreciate all the help. Thanks a lot
Deff been water in there my factory pump looked like new when I replaced it. Why not just order a new assembly . And be done with it.......91 and up are different part numbers. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from...091+H&_sacat=0
So I've been thinking on this a while. Is there any conversion I can do to make it easier to acquire and swap fuel pumps in these things? Why are there different set ups for a 90 vs 91? Is it the way the hole is that it mounts up in? Shape of the tank? Was thinking of it's something to do with the tank, can I just swap tanks with a different yr model?
