Ha..It fixed itself !!!.. Really? , Celebration might be premature, sorry for raining on your parade.... Never saw a non-modified, XJ, MJ or YJ & I own all three.... that didn't have a fuel filter along the left frame rail to the rear. of the vehicle...That strainer in the tank attached to the fuel pump assy, is not a substitute for an inline gas filter, just adds added protection for not picking up debris in tank..........

I'll check again...maybe filter was causing the problem. Stay tuned

I had been driving that as much as possible to reduce the gas in the tank to make it easier for me to take it off. So the day comes and my fuel pump arrives, guess what? that very same day I cranked it and it starts on the first crank I stop it and think to myself okay this is the freak incident I started again and again and again and again it starts on the first crank my next step is I open up the hood and check to see if there's any gas in the rail one of a few tests to discover that we have a bad fuel pump I pushed the pin in and freaking gas squirts out all over and across to the fender what the hell... now I crank it and it starts it's been days that it's been doing this I'm even afraid to put more gas in use it because if I have to drop the gas tank he'll be full of gas so what's going on? RodsJeep I checked to see if there was a filter as you suggested and there was no filter from the fuel pump to the gas grill. I am Overjoyed that I can drive my baby again but the back of my mind I got this freaking ball of fear that it's going to stall with me somewhere out in the desert or on the highway freeway whatever. Can I have a vote here should I keep it or exchange it to play it safe I say play it safe thanks for your comments.

Hey I say replace it it ain’t bad of job at all and will give you easy of mind. If tank is full however I suggest using a jack to handle the lift. At best tranny jack. In my opinion with your situation, I think your fuel pump is faulty or a tank related leak. Checking all hoses ain’t bad idea. Gas cap too.
