Default Fyi for anyone who has had this problem

Ok have anyone else had an issue where they would be driving down the road 55-60 for about 20-30 and then all of sudden the engine starts to spit and sputter and all it can do is idle. You cant give it any throttle. Well mine did this to me yesterday. My xj is a 89 with the renix system btw. But what I found was it seemed to be running out of fuel. So I got out and something told me to check the fuel cap. When I loosened it the tank had a vaccum on it. My guess on that is the vent must be cloged up. The then with the gas cap off it still did it. Would need to let it cool down for about 15 minutes before it would start to run correctly. Well the issue is the fuel pump has gone out. But what made it so werid was they way it did. Never seen one go in and out like that its always been out or working fine. But anyway if anyone else is having a similar issue you may want to check your pump and vent out thats what ill be doing this weekend
