I know that theres hundreds of threads on here and other sites about better gas mileage. however, i have a few questions i havent had answered. Will 703 injectors help my mpg? I found a 'k & n clean air intake' at a JY for $20, how bout that? i also have some used tires on currently. Will 4 new tires help? im all stock with a 96 4wd automatic 6cyl. currently get about 16mpg mainly highway. drive about 60mph for 15 minutes constant a day. 30 miles a day.

No, 703s won't help mileage. Run some injector cleaner in your gas tank and that's as good as it'll get (either Lucas fuel treatment or Seafoam). A new air filter will help, not significantly though. And new tires probably won't help all that much. Just make sure your tire pressure is in the right vicinity with your current tires and that's about as good as it'll get.

If you want a small kick in mileage, replace your upstream o2 with a quality NTK sensor. And clean your throttle body and run some Seafoam through your intake

Edit: but yeah, 16 isn't at all bad. I'd kill to get that much

thanks. i know 2 of my injectors leak and i have to at least replace the o rings, thats why i questioned the injectors.

O rings are extremely cheap. Easy to do too. But if you have extra cash, might as well do the 703 swap since you have to pull the fuel rail anyways. You might not necessarily see better mileage but you will have better throttle response and a smoother idle

Habits, habits, habits! Freer flowing exhaust and intake charges will help. So a bored TB with that K&N and full 2.5" exhaust. 703s will make the throttle more responsive and MAY increase your mpg. But again, it's your driving habits that play the most in this game. Keep your speeds close to 55mph and take it easy accelerating. Coast to stops also.

By adding ethynol to gasoline there will be less carbon molecules in the fuel, those carbon molecules are what helps the spark transfer from the center electrode to the ground electrode on the spark plug. The gasoline of today rquires twice as much KV to ignite than the gas that was available when our Jeeps were built, the higher KV requirments puts a metric butt load of stress on the whole ignition system in the pre-coil on plug systems. If you have a distributor ignition system you should always replace all of the components, such as cap, rotor, wires with high quality parts when doing a tune up. The coils in our Jeeps are only rated at roughly 40KV and it takes 30KV to ignite the crap fuel at idle, so a high output coil is recommended. If you can, and have time on your hands, take a DVOM to the parts store and try and match the resistance in the set of plugs you purchase. You would be suprised what the ohms difference is between a set of identical spark plugs. If you can manage to get a set of matching plugs it will help with misfires and be more efficient, thus improving fuel mileage. You should also close the gap by .001 or.002" than spec, that will help make up the loss of the carbon molecules in today's fuel. A larger gap will not give you more power if the park can't jump it. I hope this helps a little.

Kinda seems like overkill to me, the issue with ethanol is it have lower energy density that gasoline. AKA need more of it to make power. Great for race cars cause you can pack alot of it (small molecule) and air into the combustion camber and make alot of power and you dont care about mileage as a racer so much. American politics at its best trying to get energy dependence while trying to boost fuel mileage.
