Gas nozzle keeps clicking despite not even full
So i seen a post floating around but cant find it for the life of me that had similar issues and i cant remember if it had a solution or not, But long story short i fill up with gas at times and doesnt matter where but say a quarter tank i fill up and itll fill then stop and i have to spend like a good 30 minutes trying to get a full tank of gas as it keeps stopping and you can hear it flow up the fill neck. Is it a venting issue i assume? if so what hoses should i be looking at? In the past i had to put in 3 fuel pumps in the past and im sure there could be a kinked and or clogged vent line.

Check the vent tube for the filler neck, spiders tend to build webs in them. pull the hoses off and blow air through them, 9/10 times that corrects the issue

Yeah I have this same issue. But I always thought it was the nozzle, as if I pull it out a bit and only have the tip in (on some nozzles) it's fine.
Sooooo,.... what you guys are telling me, is that IT'S A JEEP THING???
Does this mean I have something else to replace?! lol

Sometimes it has to do with the pump. Some station's fuel flow rate is a lot higher than others and I used to have trouble unless I slowed the delivery rate down. At high pressure the fuel doesn't give time for the bubbles to allow the air to get up the pipe.

Mine had that problem so I disconnect the line from the evap solenoid under the hood and that fixed it, I have since ran a vent hose from the tank up to where the back hatch closes and keeps it out of the weather. No more evap problems for me.

After almost 20 years, I would drop the tank, which is not that hard to do. While it is down, replace the fuel pump and sending unit, change the fuel filter and the replace the filler hose. It will also give you an opportunity to inspect the inside of the tank as well as the outside for damage, corrosion, etc.. Consider it maintenance on the fuel system, which is often left until it fails. Hope this helps
