Question Which Gatorback belt fits the cherokee, and where can I buy it.

The belt on my 1991 jeep Cherokee (inline 6) is really squeaky, and if you loosen it, it is a little less squeaky. When it is normal tightness, it hurts your ears listening to it. I am trying to get a gatorback/continental elite belt to fix the problem, however, the only ones I can find do not say that is compatible with my jeep, or they just look like a normal belt from the picture. What is the part number, and where do I even buy them from?

Also, does anyone know what the length of the belt is supposed to be? I tried looking it up at Autozone, but it says a belt that is 90 inches and a belt that is 98 inches both fit. Wha?

Depends on the belt drive configuration. With AC or without AC & left or right hand drive. LH Drive with AC is 97.5", without AC is 71", RH Drive is 89.5".

Thanks, Mine is LH drive with AC and PS.
I found a belt on ebay that says its compatible with AC and PS, but it says its for the inline 4 engine, and not the inline 6. It also doesnt say the length. Are they different?

Using the rockauto link, I found two part numbers. One says that it includes power steering, but not AC. The other one says that it includes Ac, but it doesn't say anything about PS. The second one should work, right? The part number for the second one is "CONTINENTAL ELITE 4060975"

If you have AC, get the one that says "CONTINENTAL ELITE 4060975"
However, it looks like that one on rockauto doesn't have the special quiet channel technology ribs, and has normal ones. I found one that does on ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/CONTINENTAL...I/233470106947

I've been running a DAYCO on my '96 since 11/2016 with no noise issues. Did have to tighten it a bit after ~100 miles.

if you have an orilly's autoparts near you, they have those belts in the store for most vehicles. i would imagine the jeep 4.0 falls into the category of common enough its one they carry

I have replaced so many of those gimmicky belts. Gatorbacks, Poly Cogs, you name it. The belt that I always replace them with is a Gates belt. It's the only brand I trust to put on a customer's car aside from an OEM belt. They're quality belts and I know it won't come back in 6 months squeaking again.
