If they are, pull the instrument cluster and check the gauge mounting screws on the printed circuit board for proper tightness. If the mounting screws are tight, replace the instrument cluster.

Instrument Cluster Actuator Test

(1) Begin the test with the ignition switch in the Off position.

(2) Depress the trip odometer reset button.

(3) While holding the trip odometer reset button depressed, turn the ignition switch to the On position, but do not start the engine.

(4) Release the trip odometer reset button.

(5) The gauges should cycle through their ranges, stopping at intermediate readings, going up and going down, at two second intervals. The indicator lamps should cycle on and off.

(6) The instrument cluster will automatically exit the self-diagnostic mode and return to normal operation at the completion of the test, if the ignition switch is turned to the Off position during the test, or if a vehicle speed message indicating that the vehicle is moving is received from the PCM on the CCD data bus during the test.

I did this yesterday first thing, all of the gauges worked so I did take the panel of and the instrument cluster out to clean. Reseated it, and was fine all day. This morning it did the same thing again, oil pressure not reading for a few seconds then picking right up. Could it be the sending unit?

It could be the oil pressure sensor, but does the voltmeter still hang up?

You could try a new OPS and see if this fixes that issue. I recommend a NAPA Echlin unit or an OEM unit from the dealer.

Did you check the security of the gauge screws when you had the IC out?

Yepp sure did check the screws. The voltmeter hasnt done it in a while, just the pressure gauge. The terminals looked good too. I am going to do an oil change tomorrow so I will have to see if I can pick one up then or monday and see if that takes care of it

Well after the oil change the gauge has worked ever since. I am sure the 10w-30 was just too thick for this winter (the past couple have been fairly mild) while this year has been crazy cold. Replaced with 5w-30 and napa gold filter and she is back to normal. I also haven't seen the volt gauge act up in some time, but if it does I will explore that issue.
