Nope.
**EDIT**
Well, not formally. I think you should drive it a couple times for 20 or 30 minutes at a time before doing a 4 wheel donut. For regular driving though, no, just get in and go.

Yes there is. When I had my gears installed the manufacturer's instructions were 500 miles driving, with a heat up/cool down period and mixed driving (can't remember all the details), but no "wheeling". Then you change the lube and inspect it for shavings. I remember hitting my 500 mark on the way to a wheeling trip & changing the doggone oil in the camp ground parking lot at night.
your gears will be just fine.

12 feet or 12 seconds what ever comes first no it wouldnot hurt to pull the cover and check them after 500 miles and ,check for loose bolts on the ring gear and main caps and chunks of metal in the lube make sure the install is good better than breacking down some where

Yes there is a bread in period, should do short drives with no lugging for about 100 miles.
After 500 miles pull covers and check ring and pinion for damage and oil for shavings.

Yeah - this sounds very similar to what mine said. Considering what it cost to have 2 axles regeared, I wouldn't take chances. It can't hurt to adhere to a "break-in" period even if you didn't need to. It can hurt plenty if you didn't when you should.
