Getting back into an XJ, what maintenance should I do?
First post. First of all I want to say thank you for this forum. I have read through a lot of posts, both entertaining and informative.
I am currently test driving a '91 2 door XJ, that will be my daily driver for a few years, then it will get chopped. This was perviously a "government" vehicle, and I am not sure how well they kept up on the maintenance.
Jeep has 111k on it. So my question is about what maintenance should I immediately do besided the obvious like an oil and filter change? Differential fluid, etc.? I will probably change the plugs and wires because my experience has been that people have a tendency to leave them in forever. Is there anything mechanical that this year of Jeep is "known for?"
Owned a '93 XJ years ago that I loved. I would still have to this day if my ex hadn't traded it in for an F150. I owned it, she didn't ask, just thought I needed a "better" vehicle. Just one of the reasons she is now my "ex".

Model: Cherokee
Engine: 4.0
New Champion copper plugs gapped to .035
New distributor cap, rotor, plug wires
Check and replace air filter if necessary
Inspect and replace serpentine belt if over 60k. Go with a Goodyear Gatorback
Cooling system maintenance is important. Flush and fill, new 195 degree thermostat, replace old hoses.
New fluids including oil, transmission fluid, differentials, transfer case, and coolant as I already mentioned.
