Default Getting hot on freeway

My 99 is getting above 210 on the freeway, this isnt much of an issue right now but next month or so it will be huge. I just replaced the water pump a few months ago, along w a 195 t stat. The heater sux, while changing the w pump I flushed the core out and it didnt seem plugged. The core inlet get hot to where you cant hold it but the bottom is just hot. The only thin that I can think of that could be the problem is the fact im missing my fan shroud. Could this make that much of a diff even while on the freeway?

Shouldn't need fans or shrouds on the highway. I'd go for a new radiator ASAP and consider a new fan clutch as well. If the heater sux, most likely the core is plugged/restricted. Anything blocking air flow thru the grille or rad?

New radiator cap. If its the fix, it was <5 bucks. Worst case it's <5 bucks.

Get new radiator and cap.

radiatorbarn, rock auto, plenty of sources.

And get a shroud in there. They serve a pretty important purpose.

Never a bad idea to replace the fan clutch, and the fan shroud be in place and intact. As I stated previously, at highway speed, gobs of air is moving thru the rad and fans/shrouds aren't needed at highway speed. Fans/shrouds are almost in the way at highway speed but are absolutely necessary at slow/no speed. Overheating at highway speeds usually has to do with reduced air flow thru the rad for whatever reason. Big winch, big tires?????

Other than the fan clutch, radiator is about all that's left.
