Check out Rancho RS5000x shocks. They run about 53 per shock on summit racing and there may be a rebate. I have them on my Ford Ranger for a couple years and they ride pretty good. I had one shock start leaking on me, all I had to do was call summit and they sent me out a replacement no charge and I sent the old one back prepaid, no hassle whatsoever.

I found a pair of new/used Rubicons for $60, seller was putting a lift in his new Jeep and they were left over. Harder than I thought pressing the tube out of tube bushing to fit the flat two bolt mount for the front.

Well that story goes back to 2004, I worked all day it was a Friday. I got done and my brothers called said were going to Summernite cruise in Somerset ,KY. OK I have no life see ya there, 240 miles later Howdy Bros( BTW I grew up down there) Long /short I went around looking at the cars and trucks, then they had a burnout contest , choke /gag had to get out of there I was sitting with my oldest Brother when I had pain in my arms, I said Hey I may have to go over to that hospital I'm not feeling good (joking) The pain quit ,I say cool a minute later I said bro I aint' joking any more felt like a bus parked on me, He loaded me in his ProStreet 55 Chebby ( which made the TV show back in the day (not a Wednesday it was Friday) He took me 250 yards to the emergency room and said I 'll go park and be right in, I said na go back enjoy the show I'll come over when I'm done. I went through the door and told this pretty little chick how I felt she hit the blue button. A few seconds later a gurney came up slapped me on it. 20 feet down the hall I heard we are losing him, Next thing I heard we have him back .(and I puked all over the place ) They told me I was gone for 3 minutes I never seen Grama or Grampa , no bright light and no flames around my feet, But my brother freaked out when they told him I died, with out explaining first I recovered ( he called the whole family). After that it was 2015 I was working on my shed It was around Xmas, I knew the feeling once you have one you will never forget what it feels like. So I got in the car and went to the hospital I had actually had one that day and another while at the hospital. Then another mild one in 2017.Doc says I look pretty good now keep up the meds. Guys live for today you might not be here tomorrow....¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've got Gabriel Ultras on mine I like them so far, they're firm but they do an excellent job of controlling the Jeep on bad roads. Monroe shocks are good also I've got them on my car and the ride quality is excellent. The rear upper bolts will break so make sure you have a good drill along with a decent drill bit (I used a unibit) and some grade 8 hardware.
I used to put hijackers on all my street machines they were good shocks, is their quality still good.

Yea man I feel ya. why sell a good piece of equipment and give shoddy bolts, Rancho doesn't even supply bolts except for the nuts for the top of the front shock which is OK, if they supply bad bolts I'd rather buy my own.

I haven't tried those Monroe's but I've bought several Monroe shocks over the years for regular street cars ad trucks ..and they just don't last IMO. I'd say 1 out of 4 leak within 2 years. I don't know why I keep kidding myself and buying them. Not going to in the future. Personally I'd fork out the extra money for Bilsteins. Everyone I know has had great luck with them. In the end you'll be way ahead if you had to buy 3x pr of Monroes in the same timeframe.

put these on my xj 3 years ago. No more sag in the rear and ride fine. Had it on the lift today for a new muffler and notice one of them has a bad seal leaking fluid. In the 3 years time very limited miles. Not happy. and of course can’t find my receipt.
