Good Stock Shocks? Recommendations ?? What worked for you?

Good Stock Shocks? Recommendations ?? What worked for you?
I'm looking at putting in a budget lift, 1/5 to 2 inch on my 2WD 99 XJ, am thinking Rocky Road kiti with bar pin eliminators so I can use stock shocks. The shocks I have now are kinda beat so was th inking I might as well replace the shocks wh ile I'm doing the rest of the work so, was wondering what shocks y'all have been using that have worked well for you. My XJ is daily driver, gonna take some highway trips, very little off road, just dirt roads and fire trails occasionally so I prefer something comfortable, not too stiff. I don't need Pro-Comp's latest greatest rock crawler shock or top shelf Bilsteins either. Just normal everyday parts store (or probably RoakAuto or AutoAnything) shocks.
Recommendations??
An no, I don't want to bother trying to make JK shocks fit on the XJ. Or do I ??

As far as other stock options, Gabriels were what was on mine before I lifted it and they rode great. Monroe makes a good quality shock and of course, Bilstein's OEM replacement line is very good and isn't too ridiculously priced either.... of course you're always going to pay a little more for better ride quality.

what did i miss? I know i asked about budget lifts and bpe's, oh and putting jk shocks on (which sounded like a pain in the butt so i think i'm going to skip that) but dont remember asking about stock shocks . But, i am admitedly old and forgetful so maybe i did...

Why not? They're great shocks. Them damn JKs ride like they're on a cloud compared to the XJ. Doesn't really feel like a Jeep IMO, but put those on an XJ with the lift setup you mentioned and it will probably be a great combo.
As far as other stock options, Gabriels were what was on mine before I lifted it and they rode great. Monroe makes a good quality shock and of course, Bilstein's OEM replacement line is very good and isn't too ridiculously priced either.... of course you're always going to pay a little more for better ride quality.

Honestly man, if you can afford KYBs, you can afford Bilsteins (not the 5100's mind you, I'm talking the Bilstein OEM replacements). They're much easier than fooling with the adjustables and the ride quality is marginally the same.

Shocked!
Monroe Sensitrac. Worked great for me for over 500+K km (get about 150+k km per set).
The Rancho's on front of the XJ also have held up, made by Monroe.
Monroe is owned and operated by Tenneco.
Tenneco has been a customer of mine.
I've run sets of Monroe Sensitrac Load Assist on rear of the XJ, those load assist springs provide 1/2" of ride height by assisting my leafs. No problems with ride quality nor control on washboard gravel roads.
I've also tried the Monroe Magnums on our Grand Cherokees, they are only Ok.
Not great; but you get what u pay for.
Pic of the load assist. Run about $200 - $300 CDN pair.
Boots on the Ranchos probably assisted longevity.
No flex concerns with the load assists at the rear.

eh idk the part number off hand. i searched monroe sensatrac on amazon and bought the oem replacement for a 97 xj. i bought the normal ones for the front and the load assist ones for the rear. i have a 2.5ish" rancho aal in the back and 2" pucks up front, shocks fit fine and perform just fine with regard to extension etc. it's my dd pavement pounder that gets driven everywhere. shocks were pretty cheap, i wanna say i gave $35 ea for the front and $60ish for the back. i wouldn't buy the load assist for the back unless you haul stuff a lot, the normal ones would ride better and also be much cheaper.
