I use the jeep as a DD in michigan so i need something that preforms well in the winter icey roads.

What do you all think?
Where are you getting your quote from? A lot of prices price match.. something to look into as well.

They are also winter rated traction devices with the little mountain and snowflake.

They seem like a really solid tire.
The "snowflake" is what is called Siping. A lot of tire manufacturer's are doing it now. Most michelins are siped from the factory. It helps in snow/ice and also longevity of the tire.

Depending on the tire size, ya can get the treadwright MT/R retreads that are pretty much identical to the GY MT/R's

The snowflake also means you don't have to get out and put chains on in some cases.

I'd take the Duratracs for DD and snow. The sipes will certainly help on the ice as well. My Xterrains ahve very minimal siping and they are brutal on ice/hard packed snow. Deep snow they aren't too bad. When they are done, Duratracs here I come!

Yeah I think for a DD if I was buying new tires atm I'd go with something like the Goodyear Duratracs.

Actually in most places that say.. chains required except 4x4's if you have at least a pair (2) chains you do not necessarily HAVE to use them, as long as you have them in vehicle.
