Default Grease axle bearings?

I replaced the axle bearings and seals today in my 91 limited with a D35. One write up i saw didn't mention anything about packing the bearings with grease, it just showed squirting diff oil on it so I did it that way. Now I see a write up on another site that shows packing them with grease. Is this critical? Should I pack them with grease or is the diff oil sufficient?

That's a strange directive. I would expect the diff oil to dissolve whatever grease was in the bearing to begin with. The bearings should be greased.

will the diff oil that is already there dissolve the grease that I am going to put on or should I just remove everything and do it over with a fresh bearing and seal?

The gear oil in axle housing lubricates the axle bearing. Grease being applied at install will just detour dry running at first road test. Youll be fine.

isn't the bearing somewhat sealed anyways and it goes in the end of the housing? then the axle slides in? or is he talking about the inner bearings? in the diff.

All of the bearings in at least C-clip D35s and C8.25s are lubricated by gear oil.
