Default Grinding noise when braking

Alright so I have had this issue for some time now and it's getting worse. When ever I brake moderate/heavily there is this grinding noise. I would also like to point out that this noise does not happen whenever I go over bumps or dips so I don't think it is anything suspension related. Any input is greatly appreciated. I will post a video of the sound.

Yep. If it's been a while your worn out front brake pads have likely trashed the rotors. You can take your rotors in to be checked. Allot of auto parts stores have a lathe in back, they will tell you if they are turnable. New rotors are not so spendy, (anymore). Here (the west),the tire shop, Less Schwab, will check breaks free

To me it sounds like your brake pads are finally on their last legs. Id change them asap as now youre actually damaging and gouging your brake disc dont let it become a costly mistake! and dont be cheap on the brake pads either i found that out badly as the previous owner of my jeep put the cheapest ones he found on the internet and the fade is so bad on them the petal sank to the floor basically. just set yourself up with the $20 pair and it should last you a while. happy jeeping.

Update: rotors looks fine but haven't really "tested them" I sprayed some wd40 on the caliper/brakepads and the noise didn't go completely away but did sound a lot better.

WD40 isnt going to fix anything here. Did you check the backside of the rotors as well? How much pad material is there? Do the pads have wear indicators, and if so, are they contacting the rotor? Check the rear brakes as well, to be thorough.

You did what?????

The last thing you should ever do with brakes is to apply a lubricant to your brake pads or shoes.

Throw them out. Buy new.

No, there is no shortcut.

I know wd40 isn't going to fix anything obviously . I just did it to see if it made the sound less worse and it did

Of course it made it sound less bad.

It also ruined your brake pads. Throw them away. Buy new.

What part of "putting oil on my brakes" makes sense to you? That's something you'd do to an enemy if you wanted to kill him and didn't care who else got hurt in the process.

Well then since it made the sound less bad , it must be the break pads huh. Stop trying to make me look like an idiot because I sprayed wd40 on the pads. I'm changing them tomorrow.

NEVER put a lubricant or oil on your brakes ever..... i think you ruined them now and if your pads look skinny and not meaty theyre worn when i pull my pads off tomorrow ill show what worn ones look like compared to new.

Not necessarily.

Glad you're changing them. While you're in there, look for other problems that you might have masked.
