Default Grinding when clutch pedal depressed

Posting up for a buddy, he is having an issue i have not really seen so hoping maybe some of you have come across it. I'm pretty sure he said it is a 91, he was coming to work the other day and he went to push in the clutch and it made a bad grinding sound. He said he was not able to shift or get the clutch to do anything and limped it in 5th gear off the freeway into a parking lot. Been sitting since.

I went to check it out, clutch fluid is full. What happens is in nuetral, when you push the clutch down, it makes a really bad grinding noise. To me it sounds similar to when you miss shift and grind gears. the transmission shifts fine when the car is off, and it had no transmission or clutch problems before this happened. Any help is appreciated!!

the grinding sounds like a throw out bearing but usually the clutch still works, so it may need a clutch, how many miles is on it and has the clutch been replaced?

internal slave and thowout, that sounds like the trans needs to come out?

you can really feel the grinding in the pedal too, and the clutch pedal feels really soft until right before it starts making the metal on metal grinding noise.

i was thinking slave right off the bat, and i'm sure the clutch could use replacement...

it sounds like a throwout bearing. Tranny has to come out to change it. Might as well do the clutch while your there.
