grooved thornbirds
i have a chance to get a set of 35x14.50 thornbirds with good tread on the cheap. has anyone had any experience grooving tires? i want to make them perform better in the mud

I have never done it myself but several of the local offroad shops offer the service..If I was strictly a mudder/rock crawler I'd by some and have em grooved but for me it just seems like a waste of money. I know a few guys who have done it on the big truck and say it's awsome in the mud.

well i have my friends 35 x 14.5 boggers on my jeep now and they fit fine. i thought thorn birds were good for the street?

i don't understand all the thornbird hate. i've had them and loved them, and i'm considering them again. they did fine on the street and wore nicely. they are a tough bias ply tire, and did amazing off road.
a lot of people talk bad about them, but is it from expereince, the few people i know that actually ran them, have nothing bad to say about them.
i used them on a daily driver for a long time, 33". no tread ever flew off, handled as well as any 33" aggressive tire would, and i put over 30k on them and they were about 50% worn.

my friend had 33 thorn birds on his tj and loved them. he says he liked them better than the boggers he has now cause its his dd

um, i said everyone i know thats had them liked them. at least 4 guys i know of, and another here.
