Grunt Call in my Steering?
I have a 98' Cherokee and I have a noise in the steering. It is when you turn sharper than your normal turn (Parking spaces, U turns). It is a short grunt I guess you could say. I have checked my power steering fluid and it is good. The only things I haven't checked is the steering column and pump. Has anyone had the same problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Is this when you have it turned as far as the wheel wil turn? Right to the stop?
Then it's probably the pressure relief valve in the power steering pump. It's there so you won't damage the pump when the system is locked to one side.

there is a rubber boot down by the colum right at the firewall. hunker down with a flashlight and youll see it. pull the boot back and spray the hell out of that rubber peice there with wd-40. it will go away. spray it down and then steer from left to right let it soak in. have a buddy turn the wheel when you spray. good luck man.
