Do you have a vacuum booster or the Bendix 9 ABS system?

hey guys if you have the bendix 9 system, the pump assembly doohiky is covered for the life of the vehicle (forever).my 89 xj lim is being fixed as we speak. no charge.it is a federal mandate. chrysler recall 702. they will offer to buy your jeep for you to go away but dont neg a price cause you wont make out. just tell them its not for sale. it cost them 1600 bucks to put new pump on. that was the district managers complaint. so i told him not to charge himself so much to do the job. i was going to swap the system but this turned into a pissing match between me and the district manager. note the service manager should be on your side. they are subject to big fines for everyday they denie the repair. only do this if you know it is the pump. it runs almost constantly and loud. it is under the washer fluid resavoir. after all this you will have that new pump in your jeep valued at up to a 800-1000 bucks.

Chrysler used it too in 91, and not just on the Cherokee. The Caravan, Dynasty, and a few others had it too.

I am unsure of which system I have. It does not look like your average master cylinder and such, and it has a large white resevoir next to the washer fluid tank. Any ideas?

Is there a black metal ball with a warning sticker on it next to the master cylinder?

Has anyone preformed a swap from the bendix to a non abs system? I have a full 1987 cherokee with non abs parts for a donor, but need some guidance!

if you get the dealer to fix the bendix-9 pump and accumulator under the recall.pump is $1000 and the accumulator at $300+, you never have to swap it unless u need something to do for the weekend. those two things are covered for life, over and over and over again. plus the value of your jeep goes up. those two parts in used condition are in the ball park of 6-700 if u can find them at all. they want all bendix-9 vehicles to die off asap. too bad for chrysler jeeps never die ez.

service manager told me during the cash for clunkers era they put detergent in the old trade in cars motors to kill them. for good. the average car lasted 2-3 minutes. 4.0 inline-6 took 45 minutes to die. cant prove but i do beleive it
