Default harmonic balancer help

Im trying to replace my harmonic balancer I rented the puller and installer tool from autozone. I'm trying to set up the puller but none of the bolts seam right for the balancer. The 5/16ths bolts fit the new one but don't seam to be the right thread pattern for the old one. Any ideas? None of the other bolts that came with the puller seam right either

no u dont need to.and when you go to rent a puller make sure you get a puller that isnt for the chrysler models as you'll have trouble getting it on as stated above. get the one that i think is for a chevy. here is a link to the one i used and it came off right away with no issues. it took me about all of 20 minutes to get it replaced. oh i almost forgot if you cant get the bolt loose on the balancer use a socket with breaker bar and have someone crank the engine over without it starting up. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...ier=555524_0_0_

did u rent a harmonic balancer installer. if you got that it will go on with no issues also. just make sure you dont do what i did and turn the installer one last time and break the piece off in the crank shaft. if you do that means its on all the way and dont worry because you can thread it out with your finger. if you break it, i know what i did was no good but take some super glue and glue it back together

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...ier=391373_0_0_ here is the installer that i used. what i ment by that was, i had it pretty snugged up and thought to myself ok its pretty tight and isnt going anywhere but ill do one my half turn just for safe measure, well by the time it hit a quater turn it snapped. so once its tight you should be good. and just install the main bolt as tight as you can get it before you start cranking the engine over by hand.

nothing. once you get the bolt free the engine wont turn over at all during the whole process. until you retighten the bolt when your finished

harmonic balancer installer? seriously......ive done 2 on my jeep and used a basic puller to get it off then just put the key in there and put it back on, at most had to tap it a bit with a rubber mallet.

first one was i believe an original...the outer ring spun, second one i cheaped out and got the cheaper one that was in stock and the outer ring started working its way off, i than replaced it with a good one and havent had an issue since. I believe you can get a single piece unit but cant remember what its off of, and havent bothered since the one im running hasnt gone bad.
