I ordered that harness as well as an HID kit. Would it be better to just directly hook the HIDs to the stock factory harness or just go ahead and leave the harness on there for now and connect it to that?
I just want the brightest light output as possible.

I stand corrected then. I always thought that you needed to upgrade the wiring harness in order to do HIDs. Some other forums have told me that if you install an HID directly then you'll have a light blowout. I am not too knowledgeable on the tech stuff (as you can tell) but I am now under the impression that the ballasts sort of act like a mini battery or harness to the HIDs am I correct?

from what i know the ballasts multiply the incoming power, i think it jumps it up to around 20,000 volts (depending on the kit), and then sends the juice to the lights. you dont want to get in the way of that power. haha.

I'd probably say it's a good idea if youre running 55 watt. Although a friend of mine says he wouldn't bother w/a harness as the only thing about not having one, is a 1-2 second delay for your lights while the ballast is charging up.

An upgraded harness is a good idea if you are going to HIDs, it depends upon the maker of the kit/ballast on how they need to be hooked up, hidplanet.com is a good informative site that I have been reading on.
I upgraded the lens in my 96 XJ to the rampage H4 housings and I wasn't impressed with the bulbs it came with until I got rid of the 96 but kept the lens I put them in my 98 with a set of silverstar H4s and that made all the difference with no harness replacement.
I took pics of the difference in light while installing at night to highlight the difference.
