Seems to me like most of the jeeps like that use the Rubicon Express kits. What makes you want to do something like this? Just curious thought it looked cool.

well first off thank you for your interest in the thread.
well a couple of friends and i have recently come from the desert scene. we have had all types of prerunners and desert assasins.
with the economy the way it is its too pricy to keep fixing big heavy chevys lol so we bought jeeps to go have some fun with more people with you and a more family friendly situation.
we like to haul *** in the desert but like to climb some moderate hills and rocks nothing like some of you but just a good happy medium.
will the regular long arm kits get good wheel travel for example if i purchase the rc kit and put a very nice triple bypass shock with that kit with it work smoothly or could i fab a shock hoop and my own lower tab for coilovers in the front with the rc kit?

Not sure how the coilovers would work with a kit like that. They supply the longer coils and I think they're pretty stiff so you could still have the stablilty you need for ripping across the sand. The shocks should work fine if you can get the right size for that application. Not too sure about the hoop idea though never seen it done on a cherokee too often. You could probably make it work though.

Pretty much you can make anything work with some time lol I would say if you have access to one you should try it out, but yes a YJ does have a frame so you could run into some problems there with the mounting issues. I would try getting in contact with some of those guys from the JeepSpeed team and see what they would recommend

you cant just bolt on a shock hoop on a XJ, no frames. most JeepSpeed guys will run the 4-link kits, like Full Traction. get some good bypass shocks, truss the front and rear axles, good bumpstops (air bumps work good). a cage would be wise too if you plan on racing it or doing high speed runs.
