Default Hazards, turn signals and break lights not working?

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum. I created this account so I could ask this question. I own a 1995 Jeep Cherokee XJ 5 speed manual.

My break lights, hazards and turn signals don't work. It's been like this for around 9 months. I'm not too familiar with the layout of the electrical, and I can't seem to find any diagrams online.

When I press the hazard button or turn the blinker switch, nothing happens. The dashboard doesn't light up and I don't hear any clicking. I'm not sure where to begin looking for any problems. It doesn't look like any fuses are blown.

Can anyone else give me any information on this? What can cause this, and where should I check? Thanks! If you need anymore information, I'd be glad to give it to you.

EDIT: I've replaced my switch, and I got a handful of nothing. Same exact problem. I'm confused.

Welcome to the forum, Cameron. First, check your fuses with either a test light or a meter. Looks can be deceiving.

Everything else works? I'd be looking at the switch.

You can download the FSM (Field Service Manual) for free from cruiser54.com or from xjjeeps.com

Thanks. yes, everything else works, headlights, dash lights, etc. I was thinking it might be the switch, but wanted some input to see what you all think. I'll see if I can try to install a new one Wednesday or something. Hopefully that's my issue.

Well, first off, stop breaking your brake lights!

See my sig, #1. There's a link there for pictures of your grounds. Start there.

Also look carefully at the ignition switch connector. They have been known to melt.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

So I looked at the fuses and the fuse diagrams for the 1995 XJ. It said fuse 8 (above the clutch) was the one that controlled turn signals. I guess on my XJ it's fuse 10. And what do ya know. It's blown. I replaced it and it works. I spent all this time looking at fuse 8, because it only had 1 connection instead of 2. I thought it was broken or something, nope. I guess 95 was a weird year for the electrical systems. The hazards and break lights were because fuse #4 was blown in the engine compartment box. Such an simple solution. I feel a bit dumb, but I guess that switch I replaced is a new spare.

Lesson learned? Don't assume. Always check ALL fuses.

And stop breaking your brake lights!

You absolutely have to, as the information in the FSM and handbook is not correct for every year
