stay away from advance auto rebuilds i have a friend that got a small block ford from them and it did not last very long, or run that great so we tore it down and found it had two different heads on it and one mix match connecting rod in it

Yeah well if it has a 3 year warrenty then why not buy one? I have bought tons of stuff from them and others like them. I think its really hit or miss. I dont think I would buy an engine from them but other things like pumps, belts, chains, sensors, i'd get from them.

If I needed a new motor I'd honestly buy one from like a junk yard. There is very good jeep yard by my house with great prices. Too bad i'm moving in less than a year.

Does anyone know if there is a special socket used for the head studs. Every socket I try does not work. I cant get one to fit over the bolts.

Yeah I ended up finding a socket that worked. I knew it was a 12 point I just couldnt have a deep well 12 point that was 1/2in drive for my torque wrench. So I ended up getting a 3/16 drive and using an adapter.

Well the head is back in and i'm in the process of reinstalling everything. If all goes well (and I find exhaust manifold studs) then I should be on the road tomorrow.

I haven't updated this in awhile. Well I got the new head in. Turns out it was a casting for a different model so I had to plug the water jacket. I through in a new 180 thermostat in and my temp still runs around 200. I dont know why that would be. Now with a brand new belt installed I do have some sqeeling. I may have the belt to tight. I'm going to play with it tomorrow after work.
