4-6k should be fine for people. A friend of mine has 6k in his XJ and when he's behind me it's not blinding. And all the new fancy cars have LED headlights and taillights which are annoying. Not to mention, you deal with the headlights for a few seconds as we pass, I have to have good coverage on the dark roads.
It's not the colour temperature (4000k, 12000k, whatever) that makes the difference concerning blinding other drivers, it's the fact that the halogen housings do not reflect and "spread" the HID beam effectively, and a lot of it can end up in oncoming drivers' faces.

Agreed. Read the VARY FIRST POST, it talks all about how NOT to blind other drivers.

Is it a matter of the quality of the kit then pretty much? I bought a nice kit (or at least it seems that way) from a vendor here. Spent about $75, although the kit itself was on sale, I think it retailed at around $90. I was going to go with the new housing, H4 bulb, harness, but I was reading issues with the housing leaking, the bulb going out, etc and felt like I'd be better off just buying a HID kit, since I really need better road visibility at night. And a buddy bought a similar HID kit off eBay and hasn't had any issues with it, like in terms of being flashed or anything. So hopefully it works out for me as well.

So I'm about to buy these:

I already have the upgraded harness. Thoughts?

I had to laugh at the title... where was it "pitch dark" at all in this video? There were street lights shining nice and bright the whole time. You can even see them reflecting in the puddles.

I am not too impressed by the output and cut off pattern of your lights my autopals and h4 harness. Have a better pattern and put out the same amount of light.

Hey guys, I bought a HID kit off a vendor here. It's the two stage Xenon low/halogen high setup. This is what showed up today. I was wondering what I do for a housing.
