Default Headlights shut off when tilt column is lowered and near bottom

I was changing some dash bulbs in my 95 XJ last night and I noticed that when I lowered my tilt column all the way down to slide the cluster back in the dash my headlights would shut off but only when I was at the last 2 clicks at the bottom of the tilt, at all other positions the lights worked fine. All other lights (parking/turn signals/taillights) continued to work fine, only the head lights went out. I'm figuring there might be a short or perhaps a plug is being slightly unplugged when I do this. Any ideas?

Shorts cause blown fuses.

Look for broken wires.

Had the problem on a 95 I owned, but youngest son drove. He was always adjusting the wheel. Finally convinced him to leave it alone if he wanted headlights because I saw it as a pain to try and fix.

It may be but certainly is not the same issue. You're also in the XJ (84-01) forum, you'll get better help in the KL forum (14+) . Other than sharing the name Jeep Cherokee, there isn't much in common between the 2. Your headlight's probably more advanced than our whole Jeeps.
