Headliner
Got my headliner removed to redo the fabric, is there anything I should do while it's removed? Not to the liner itself but to the roof etc..

I just did mine and finished today, I don't see any need to do anything to the actual roof, maybe look over the wiring that is ran up there for cuts, exposed wires, etc. be sure to cut back some fabric near the rear speakers to get the caps on I broke mine( if you have aftermarket speakers in the roof id recommend that you put some dynomat on the roof so it doesn't rattle, the visors are a pain to put back up. hope this helps.

I repaired a few light rust spots when I redid my headliner. Also put in metallic bubble wrap insulation...don't notice any difference but I didn't expect much either.

Also replaced my brother's MJ headliner and redid the sunvisor fabric to match the new headliner. I was hesitant to try it but it turned out super easy.

When you take your visor off, split it apart very carefully at the seam that goes around the edge of the fabric. It is just glued together. Carefully remove old fabric trying not to damage that thin cardboard piece.
Lay desired headliner fabric on flat surface. Lay cardboard out flat/unfolded over new fabric. Trace a visible line around cardboard on fabric about an inch past the edge of cardboard all the way around. Cut out fabric.
Glue fabric to cardboard with headliner spray glue(3M Super77). Wrap the extra 1" overhang of fabric around the back and glue it as well. Let dry for a bit. Wrap the cardboard with fabric around the metal hinge bar and glue at the seam. May have to tuck fabric back where the hinge bar goes thru the visor.
NOTE: On my brother's 90 Comanche the edge seams were stitched together. My 97 XJ is just glued. Yours may vary, but I went ahead and ran a stitch around the edge to match factory
