Headliner Questions
I just bought a 1987 XJ very clean but the headliner is missing. What can I use to build a new one? Or does anyone carry new ones. What are you guys using to replace yours?

If it was me I wouldn't take the trouble on that old of a jeep. But The only way to get a new headliner, other than having a custom one made, is to find a decent one at a junkyard. They are not to bad to take out, they'll come right out the back in one piece but not creasing it any ware could be a challenge.

If your headliner board is in decent condition then you can replace the headliner material for cheap. I went to JoAnns fabrics, not sure if this only in TX, but they had headliner material for $15/yd. Got 2 1/3 yds and got some headliner spray adhesive from autoparts store and replaced it myself. It took about 3 hours to replace but you may be able to do it faster. Cost me about $50 for materials and I saved about $100 doing it myself. Look on youtube for videos regarding replacing headliners. Also you will need Torx bits to remove seatbelt. Good Luck.

Or you can just do what I did, and remove it completely.
Pros- looks cool, no more sagging, a lot of options for hanging things in the cargo area, I also plan on painting a "jeep Cherokee" logo on there this weekend so I will have to post more pictures
Cons-if it is hot outside then it gets zuper hot inside if you have the windows rolled up, rain is louder ( I like that sound though) , might be a little bit louder (I can't really tell though). Can't think of anything else bad right now.
I think it is pretty cool, but again it's whatever your into. It is your xj and you should do your own thing to it. Also credit to this idea goes to Troth. Look at his page for ideas too. He has stickers up and everything. His looks pretty cool too.
