heater is acting up

Default heater is acting up

i have a 91 xj 5 spd the issue i'm having is that my heat only works when i'm driving. if im warming it up in the morning for work there is nothing blowing out of the defroster or the heat vents until i start to drive any ideas? since it a little cold out and if i sit in traffic i freeze my well you know off

Do you have cruise?Does it work? If not, check your vacuum ball behind the bumper.I think that inables the defrost to operate.

But not positive.

Does no air at all blow from the vents or is it just cold? (even though the engine is warm)
Big David's suggestion that a lack of vacuum is certainly a good start, if a vacuum line is missing, connected to the wrong place or disconnected, the blend doors under the dashboard won't open and no warm air. One may notice if you accelorate hard the doors pop closed.
If you only get warm air when the revs are higher (ie;driving) you may need to top off the antifreeze. Less coolant, more air space, less heat transfer.

Even if my jeep is warmed up nothing come out of the vents hot or cold unless I'm in motion not even if I run the rpm up nothing my brother said he could help me out tonight he knows better than me so ill have him check all the vac hoses hopefully that's what it is cause this morning when I left for work today it was 11 degrees out side. Thanks for your help

thank you guys who posted to help me with my heater, my brother fixed it the blower was jammed up and the fuse was blown. so now i wont freeze on my way to work in the a.m.
