It seems like the uac brand has the thickest core tubes and fins compared to the spectra brand where just the sides are thick. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/jeep,1999,cherokee,4.0l+l6,1431776,heat+&+air+cond itioning,heater+core,6864
opinions? I want to put the best in my 99. Might call dealers to find a mopar on the shelf. Mopar evap is still available.

I don't think you will find a Mopar to be honest. There are places that sell "Mopar" heater cores, but they were last manufactured by different companies.
I'm halfway tempted to buy up a bunch of used OEM cores and clean them, then re-electroplate the tubing interior. It's not as complicated or expensive as it sounds.
The Wrangler guys would pay $275 all day for a factory heater core / 3 year warranty.

Possibly, it's hard to tell from the pictures. The brazed joints on the UAC look questionable though.

I dont know why, when or where I saved this link. But everyone seemed to be very happy with this heater core.

It's written in the description: Aluminum and Unpainted. Is this an extra high capacity core or something? Many vehicles, especially in the older years, offered an extra capacity heater. Someone should call them on their hotline ...take them up on their phone support which says they have "In-house experts / We know our products" . Maybe even ask if they offer a copper heater core.
I recently bought a Crown Automotive 56000049 Heater Core from Quadratec. Haven't put it in yet though. There are less expensive cores out there. Shouldn't aluminum give up it's heat better anyway??

I'm pretty sure that copper is a better conductor of heat than aluminum. (As it is with electricity.)

Old fart with a wrench
I did that on a 79 GMC truck I had. Now that I think about it, I never mentioned it to the guy I sold it to.....
