I used to recommend Amway SA8 for that very reason. But it's just too much of a hassle to buy it. The modern laundry detergents don't foam much at all. If you get the HE (High Efficiency) stuff made for front load washers, it doesn't foam at all.

On the other hand, Dawn foams like crazy and yet quite a few people recommend it for radiator flushes.

The pods are just very handy.
