Just installed reman 4.0 engine on my 1999 Cherokee xj. It has a distributor. I also installed a complete new exhaust system. Jeep passed emissions.
I can not get the heater to warm up. Engine temp is pegged on 190 now.
An Ideas?
Thanks

yup, try backflushing the core. don't use abrasive chemicals tho, just clean water.
could also be the blend door not closing far enough.

i flushed the heater core. appears to work now. it was full of crud. so, now that i put a new radiator in with the remaned engine, will there be crud in the new radiator because the heater core was flushed after the car ran for about 50 miles?

no, there shouldn't be. because you unhooked both heater hoses, one going into the core and the other coming out of the core, and flushed that crap out, it wouldn't have made it into the rad. but, if there is a little bit of loose crap left in the core, that may make it into the rad, but shouldn't be enough to worry about. hopefully.

that gunk was probably goupped up enough in the heater core and didn't get dislodged until you backflushed it, so i wouldn't think any would have gotten in the rad before hand.
but if you're really that worried about it, you could always flush your rad and fill with new coolant again.
