Default Heater doesn't blow on "heat" setting

The icy breath of winter has reached SoCal with temperatures dipping into the 40s. So I tried to use the heater for the first time.

It works like a blow torch in the "vent" position but in the "heat" position, the fan makes lots of noise but there is no air flow. AC works fine also. Is there an obvious fix for this?

When I went to turn it on, I also noticed that there is no lighting for the ac/heater controls. Is this normal?

1994 cherokee sport, 2dr, 4.0, 5 speed, AC, PS, manual everything.

In the "Heat" position I'm pretty sure it only blows from the vents at your feet.

As for the lighting, the bulb behind your climate control settings is most likely burnt out. Easy fix.

Ahh, the owners manual says "For maximum heat, move upper lever to HEAT position" but the shop manual says "HEAT" is "Floor With Def. Bleed". Sounds like I need to go with the shop manual on this one.

Are you sure the climate controls have a bulb? The bezel doesn't really look translucent and I can't find a lamp in the shop manual (which doesn't mean it isn't there).

It's there. I just replaced mine while installing a new stereo. There's a tiny bulb in the top right corner of the climate controls.
