Heater Hose Renix to later cooling system conversion
I am converting my 1990 closed cooling system to the open type from on later XJ's I bought the later heater hose from pump to heater core, but found it is too short as the later XJ's have a steel pipe with a bend and maybe about ten inches of length from the water pump that means that the late heater hose is considerably shorter than what I need (What I have is the correct late style hose from pump to heater core is Gates #19018 but it wont reach the early pump that has the short barb fitting) The early cooling system does not have that pipe on the water pump, but instead as a short hose barb, so that hose needs to be longer on an early to late converted XJ cooling system, unless I also change the water pump attachment point.
Is there a hose that is pre made that will work without splicing to allow me to use the early barbed fitting water pump and go directly to the heater core on my converted XJ? If so what is the part number?
Thanks In Advance!!!

It's been a while since I replaced the water pump on my 88, but the pipe on my old one was pretty clogged and corroded. I just bought a pipe of precut pipe (don't recall how long) removed the barbed fitting and threaded in the pipe. I used a file/sandpaper to "blunt" the threads a bit on the end for the hose. Since the pipe is straight you can retain use of the OG Renix hose.
OR, you can buy the bent pipe from RA and replace the barbed fitting. Use any model year after 91. Just be aware, you need to install the pipe before you install the water pump.
Amazon offers them too.

On the Renix, the pipe on the water pump is straight so the hose has an elbow at that end and some extra length. This does create a bit of a crowded area between the VC and the AC Compressor. '91+ use a "curved" pipe so the hose is shorted and has no bend at the water pump. So if you convert and buy all new hoses, the new one won't reach, even with the old pipe. Sounds like what he did.
Rob's replacement water pump came only with a barbed fitting (I seem to recall mine came with an empty hole). So he needs to extend the hose to reach, or swap the barbed fitting for the proper pipe. I vote swap.
As for using the old pipe and the old hose, they could be pretty nasty now. I'd rather have all new hoses since everything else is new.
