Help! 2000 XJ keeps stalling
Hey guys I’ve been recently having trouble with my 2000 XJ, it’s been stalling recently while driving and running rough in general. The first time it happened it was while I was driving my battery gauge was at 9 and completely gave out, but I unplugged the sensor on the bottom of the alternator which was clogged with salt and that fixed the issue. It was running fine for a while and I went to go somewhere and while I was at a stop sign and when I went to hit the pedal it completely stalled out, but it still had power and was cranking but it just didn’t wanna turn over. I thought it was possibly a bad crank shaft position sensor, had it towed to the shop and replaced. I left today and made it about 10 miles from my house before I was at a light and again it stalled out when I hit the pedal. It’s doing the same thing cranking but won’t turn over, I can smell gas while it’s cranking too so it has fuel and power, I’ve read it could be spark which is what I’m thinking because it sounds like it’s been misfiring and it’s been hard shifting and generally running rough. I also read that however it could be a clogged air filter or bad coolant sensor I’m just trying to narrow down what it could be if anyone has had this happen or worked on one with similar issues any information would be greatly appreciated thanks!
