01 xj sport, was driving just fine with no shifting problems or noises then out of no where the transmission goes away like it was shifted into neutral. Shifts into and out of park but does nothing in reverse or gear. First thought was Fluid so I checked it (changed fluid and filter 2-3k ago) looked fine and at level, I added some anyways but still nothing. Next checked all the plugs and wires, everything is clean and connected. Verified that the shift linkage was connected and actually shifting the transmission. What else would cause the transmission to do this? Kinda stumped on this one. I was thinking maybe the torque converter went bad and isn't pumping fluid anymore but I would think it would be an intermittent problem at first, not just happen out of no where with no harsh abuse or loud noises. Please help!!! Its my daily driver and currently stuck on the side of the road.
