Default Help! Cat problems

Today while cruising through town I noticed my jeep lacking power, also noticed a bad exhaust leak from around the front of the cat. Also noticed the rattle noise I used to have from the cat is gone. Seems like there's also little exhaust flow out the tips of my muffler. Please help, I need to get back home in 72 hours and its a 150 mile drive. Can I just cut the cat off? I have already removed my muffler and still have the same lack of flow. Soonest I can get the jeep in is Monday back in my hometown.

"Cat problems"

Catch it in a live trap, take it to an animal shelter in another county, problem solved.

Well, crum. Always when you are 150 miles from home, lol.
I'l bet you had a chunk of catalyst break loose and rattle, it's now made it's way to the outlet and sitting there clogging it up.
You really don't have any choice other than to remove it and get some ear plugs. You can possibly rod it out and reinstall it, but there's probably no point as I'm sure it's non-functional already. Pop another one on when you get home.

Good way to avoid a cat-tastrophy!

That's what I'm thinking I have to do. I got till february to smog her. It used to have no muffler on her back when I dd her. Sound can't be that bad. I drove my comanche around for a week with open header. Only problem I see having is getting the cat to unbolt. It's been there since 89 and 192,000 miles.

So today I took a hammer to the cat. Beat the crap out of it which in turn brought back the rattle and improved the exhaust flow. But it's still lacking flow that my comanche has. With the muffler on its quieter then it was a few days ago.

There's a chunk of catalyst floating around in there, time for a replacement.

Had the jeep towed home by my uncle and his flatbed trailer. Finally took the cat and muffler off. Catalysis has broken down and did clog the cat. After removing it the jeep has its power back but she is mean loud. Way to loud. Unbolted with ease.
