Removal & Installation
- With the engine cold, partially drain the cooling system. Record the amount of coolant drained.
- Carefully disengage the ECT sensor wiring connector.
- Unscrew the sensor.
- Coat the threads of the ECT sensor with sealant and install it into the block. Tighten the sensor to 8 ft. lbs. (11 Nm).
- Engage the sensor wiring connector.
- Fill the system with the same amount of coolant as was drained and check for leaks.

Mine is a 98, I just unscrewed mine, and screwed the new one back in. I think I used a set of channel locks. Took like 30 seconds, with no coolant drainage.
The 97+ is on the front of motor near the t-stat. I think the older ones are near the back of the motor which might be different
