Help!! Cherokee won't hardly move. Top speed of 25mph.
So I have 1994 jeep Cherokee xj. Won't hardly get over 25mph. Motor sounds fine but it just won't go anywhere. Anybody got any suggestions?

Yeah it was doing this before. But the fluid looked good before I changed it and it looks good now. And it does shift but it don't have enough get up to get out of 2nd gear.

Hello,
I am not a mechanic by any means but I had a similar problem twice.
in an 80's impala i had issues and couldn't get past 30ish i think it was. turned out i had a small pin hole in a line and it was letting air into the system and fluid out but even though i was checking the fluid levels every day and it never got low, the extra pressure or air in the system did cause a catastrophic failure and blew the line and transmission and it was the end of that car.
i had a similar issue with a 70's nova nice care could shoot myself now for ever getting rid of the beast. anyway one day i just couldn't get it past right around 25 and at that speed it felt like i was trying to transverse a wormhole in a cardboard box, i thought the vehicle was ready to just fall apart. however this fix was simple, i called up a friend of mine and explained over the phone what it was doing and he told me to check the bolts for the transmission to torque converter. sure enough i had like half of them loose, tightened them up and the problem went away, used the vehicle for a few years after that until the tie rod ends when bad, and shops wanted 600+ to replace them and i know the parts at that time was like 30 bucks and ti sat there and someone made an offer on the car and i sold it.
not sure this helps but maybe it could.
