Default !HELP! I want to do a manual swap on a 1990 laredo will it bolt right up?

I have a 1990 jeep cherokee laredo with the 6 cylinder and aw4 auto trans will a manual froma similar year bolt up?

A manual transmission will fit on the engine. But it is far from that simple.

Also beware that the output shaft spline count is different between the manual and automatic on a 1990, so the xfer case will not bolt up.

And the pilot bearing in the end of the crank, I should say lack of one on an auto.

Did some engines come without the recess for the pilot bearing in the end of the crank? I though they were all drilled, but the diameter changed at some point.

All 4.0 crankshafts are drilled for a pilot bearing.
