Help!!! "Limp mode" between 1500 and 2500 rpms
I have an 88 Cherokee Base manual trans with the 4.0 inline. While driving between 1500 and 2500 rpms it puts me in essentially a limp mode. I loose all throttle response and have to dump the clutch to get it to engage again. I just replaced the CPS. I don't have the money to dump a lot of parts in it. It doesn't have a scan port that I know of and I don't even know if the CEL works or is in the vehicle. I just bought it a few days ago. Can anyone help me please.

I have an 88 as well do Crusier's tips for sure. Your rig does not have a CEL, it does have a diagnostic port under hood but you would need a Snap-On 2500 brick or a NickinTime REMII reader. I would concentrate on your TPS, IAC, and throttle body to start.
