If you wanted to go the extra mile you could use a dial indicator and check your lift and all that too.

Does anyone know the tolerances for lift? I can’t find anything for the 2.5 on Google.

Mr Pineapple, with all due respect (and I mean that , I know that those of the Google/you tube generation rely on the internet for everything). YOU GOTTA GET A CHRYSLER. (Not Haynes etc) SHOP MANUAL IF YOU ARE GONNA DO THIS STUFF !
A very quick look on (Google) shows that among other places you can get one from Wally World on CD for $35.

Don't worry, it's not a paper book. It's a pdf and you can use the F3 key. No pesky reading to learn what you need to know.

My co-worker at work has one for my Jeep surprisingly, and it’s a Chilton repair manual. I also have this software at work called Identifix and it has all of this very helpful repair information. Only problem is that I can’t use it at home. I keep forgetting to ask my co-worker for that Chilton manual, but once I get that, i’ll be set. Hopefully.

I thought Chilton was a hood repair manual?

Chilton and Haines give basic conecptual info for the occasional home parts changer. They sometimes have an extremely minimal table of torque values for a select few fasteners. I've heard the rumor from multiple actual professional mechanics that these tables often contain wrong info, but I have never verified this against a facotry manual myself. They also contain sketches of assemblies that may or may not be generic or application specific.

But, the factory manual that you can get in pdf form for the same or lower price as C & H, has all the torque specs, all the measurement specs for precision fit parts, all the step by step diagnostic procedures to chase down a problem, application specific pictures and diagrams, full wiring diagrams with not just color codes but wire size, connector designation, connector pins. I'm sure there is more that I'm not thinking of.

So if you are going to do a starter or alternator parts change once or twice a year your C or H will probably work fine. If you are going to be the sole mechanic for a vehicle and want to do everything as right as you can then the factory manual is needed.

Doublechaz is more patient with these "teachable moments" than I am but will add two things.
1 ) among many other things a real factory manual is also good at showing the location of that hidden fastener that's keeping you from removing whatever component without breaking it.
2) you need to remember that the aftermarket books were created to sell books. The factory manuals were created as info for dealer tech's to use when work on the stuff...a big difference in both level of detail and motivation to be accurate.

Back in the days of paper factory manuals there were yearly and in some case quarterly update packets sent out for corrections. It would have a memo that said, "replace page 247 in your 1978 Volare manual with the page provided in this update." I don't know if the pdf versions get such corrections built in, but as exasemech pointed out they were starting from a completely different perspective to getting it right.

I was just noticing that my (from before I saw the light) Haines for my 1976 Volare, that book actually covers ALL Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth rear wheel drive cars from 1974 to 1980 in about 200 pages. My factory 76 Volare manual covers Volares just 1976 in 2,005 pages. I'm glad I don't have the paper version, that would be like four dictionaries.

I have a downloaded PDF manual for my 2018 4-Runner; it's 6000+ pages. About 5500 pages are electrical stuff.

My 76 Volare has an electric ignition, charging circuit, lights and a radio. Your 2018 has probably 200 items that would qualify as a computer and at least one sensor for each computer and more entertainment stuff in the dash/head rests than I've owned in all my houses and apartments for the last 30 years, so yeah, I bet it has a few wiring pages.

Well, y’all would be happy to know that I found a full FSM online for free that contained everything. I mean thousands of pages of anything on this Jeep. Will come in handy soon when I get ready to do a bunch of work to this thing
