Default Help me to find this screw!

I got my 1998 Jeep Cherokee repainted. The job is good, but they did not put the car back together well. In addition to multiple other problems, they lost one of the screws that attaches the door interior to the door. The screw is the one that goes in the interior door handle latch recess. I have searched all over for it, but can't find the part number or screw. If I know the size I would be better able to find a replacement. It is a self tapping screw and pictures are attached. Thanks!

I dont know the size or part number, but I have noticed ordinary self tapper screws of ~ correct size will usually work in this situation

I have a lot of loose screws (not just in my head either)

Wrecker..I have a spare Jeep to source my missing fasteners, I take the spare over to the specialist

What I really hate is when you lose the spare, or lose the new ones and the spare, before you fit them

You should be able to match it from another Jeep screw..like the other door

Remove the passenger one and go to a good hardware store to match it up.

I already tried that at my local hardware store, but I will try another. Thanks for the advice. Might wait for the junkyard to source a Jeep as well. Thanks again.

It doesn't have to have that sharp tip on it.

It doesn't even need a screw. Mine has been missing for ages after taking the panel off too many times....whatever it was holding has never fallen out.

Yeah, the hole is already there so no need for self tapping screws.

Default Found a solution

In case anyone is wondering, I went to Home Depot and bought #6 x 1 inch oval head Phillips screws. They are stainless steel, so I painted the head matte black. They work. Thanks for all of the suggestions.
