got it all back together and nothing has changed. So I give up. I'll move it to the side of the house and look at in 6mo.

Well that sucks. Your username seems more apropos than ever. Now would be a great time to do the compression and leakdown tests everyone kept suggesting. Did you ever pull the distributor out, and maybe it's a tooth off? Pull it and re-index it anyway and verify you have the plug wires in the right spot. http://cruiser54.com/?p=68 Note that some of the firing order diagrams out there are wrong. The one on Cruisers site is correct.

I'd come look at it, but you appear to live in a place where I am illegal.

yeah i used his diagram to make sure I did my wires correctly when putting them on. I disconnected the exhaust before the cat, I'm going to disconnect it at the header, just for kicks and giggles, then will index the distributor. But we'll see. It's now pushing triple digit degrees and have put off a lot of other projects working on this. I'll give those other things a go this weekend as well, if that doesn't resolve it, it will just have to sit for the summer. I have too many other things on my plate to mess with it.

When you say "nothing has changed" do you mean the compression is still stuffed on one of the cylinders ?

Still won't rev over 2000 RPM, I've done no other diag. I won't be doing anything on it till this weekend at the soonest.

Ah, somehow I got the idea you were in SoCal. My outlook is a criminal offense there. You are just a weekend trip away.

for sure, another member on here lives in Payson, his sister lives in my same square mile so we’ve been able to hang out a couple of times. Pinoy59. He’s pretty cool.

It’s been a crazy week, I was given emergency custody of my niece, and had to drive to New Mexico and back again, all while picking up an angsty teenager. Left at 2pm Wednesday got back Thursday at 3. So now we have 5 kids, and I am probably going to pick up a Jeep commander tomorrow so I can have something I shove all the kids into.

this was my company for a 7 hour car trip. I don’t think that phone left her hands.
