Default Help me out cant figure it out!!!

Jeep 1996 so it turns on for 3 seconds then shuts off... took it to get replaced fuel pump, coil. Rotor, and cap, spark plugs..have been replaced... I check my spark and its good and turns on for 3 seconds then dies.. I go back to check my spark when it dies and there's no spark but before I turned it on it had spark! It seems like something is killing the spark because it has spark and it turns on for 3 seconds then dies and I get off and check for spark and no spark at all until 10min after I let it sit there i have spark again same thing all over... I can't figure it out help me out guys!

So it starts for 3 seconds and then has no spark, try replacing your spark plug wires. When the cap and rotor were replaced did you make sure that all the plug wires and vent were in the right order?

Next time you have no spark check to see if you have fuel. If you lose both spark and fuel it is very possible that you CPS is on it's last leg. You can test the CPS as shown on Cruiser Tips. It is tip number 7. Just one thing I have noticed that the test can be inconclusive. I had a couple bad CPS's tested good but were actually bad and that's because they can be working fine one second and bad the next. Here's the link.

It can actually be a number of things. Such as anything from a bad ground, dirty elect connection, a bad ignition switch. But I do have a feeling that you will find that you are not getting fuel when you loose the spark. BTW you say that you do have a spark at times. But, is it a strong blue spark. Any other color of spark can cause a lot of problems such as no start and or shutting down if you do get it running.

@rtorrez1 I checked my ignition switch already and it's good also.. And by CPS are you meaning crankshaft position sensor or cam?

The crank shaft. But the cam sensor can cause the same symptoms but are a little less common.
The one thing that I did forget to ask. Have you tried to pull any code for it? If I am not mistaken you 96 is the last year that you can pull the codes by using the key method.

I don't know if your 96 is OBDII or not? If it is OBDII and you can get your hands on a scanner. You can still have stored codes or soft codes even with out CEL coming on.

Try replacing ignition coil. It's easy and cheap [relatively]to do. Ignition coils overheat easily and I believe the case itself contains oil to keep it cool. Heat is what kills these things and if it's leaking you probably wouldn't notice. The fact that your jeep runs for 3 seconds, and you're not getting spark from the coil, kind of points that way.
